About this car

Gateway Classic Cars of Dallas is excited to offer this exceptional 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, a highly desirable example of one of the most technologically advanced and significant Corvettes of the C4 era. Showing just 19,581 actual miles, this ZR-1 presents an outstanding opportunity to own a low-mile example of Chevrolet's legendary "King of the Hill." Finished in Black with a striking Red Leather interior, this Corvette combines the unmistakable styling of the C4 with the extraordinary performance of the Lotus-engineered and Mercury Marine-assembled LT5 V8. Under the hood is the legendary 5.7-liter LT5 DOHC V8, producing 375 horsepower and 370 lb-ft of torque. Unlike the traditional small-block engines used in other C4 Corvettes, the LT5 featured four camshafts, 32 valves, aluminum construction, and a unique dual-runner intake system designed to provide exceptional drivability while unleashing the engine's full performance potential. Power is delivered through the ZF 6-speed manual transmission, making the ZR-1 a genuinely engaging driver's car and one of the most memorable American performance cars of its era. The ZR-1's performance extends well beyond its engine. The car features the Lotus-tuned FX3 Selective Ride and Handling suspension, allowing the driver to adjust the suspension characteristics for different driving conditions. Lotus-tuned power steering and four-wheel power disc brakes provide the control necessary to take advantage of the LT5's substantial performance. The car is currently fitted with its original ZR-1 wheels, preserving the factory appearance and authenticity of this low-mile example. The exterior is finished in Black and retains the unmistakable wide-body styling that distinguishes the ZR-1 from a standard C4 Corvette. Specific ZR-1 body panels, rear fascia, wider rear track, and unique styling details give this Corvette a much more aggressive presence. The car's removable roof panels provide the open-air experience of a targa while retaining the structural character of the coupe. Inside, the Red Leather interior provides a sharp contrast to the Black exterior. The cockpit features power-adjustable leather sport seats, a leather-wrapped Corvette steering wheel, electronic instrumentation, electronic climate control, power windows, power locks, and the Delco Bose Gold Series sound system. The ZR-1's combination of performance-focused controls and long-distance comfort makes it just as enjoyable on the highway as it is on a winding road. This ZR-1 is accompanied by an impressive collection of original and period documentation and accessories. Included with the sale are the original ZR-1 Window Sticker, Owner's Manual, ZR-1 accessory supplements, serialized ZR-1 leather portfolio, ZR-1 press kit, vintage ZR-1 periodicals, two sets of keys, extra floor mats, Corvette sill covers, a dash cover, Mid America Mini Mask, roof panel case, both removable roof panels, and the original ZR-1 wheels. A K&N air filter is also included. The original Window Sticker documents the car's significant ZR-1 Special Performance Package, which carried an extraordinary $27,016 price premium when new. With additional options and destination, the original total vehicle price was $60,610 — an impressive figure in 1990 and a reflection of just how special Chevrolet intended the ZR-1 to be. The ZR-1 represents an important chapter in Corvette history. Developed with significant involvement from Lotus and featuring an engine assembled by Mercury Marine, the ZR-1 was Chevrolet's ambitious attempt to transform the Corvette into a true world-class exotic-performance contender. Its combination of sophisticated suspension technology, four-cam V8 power, six-speed gearing, and dramatically widened bodywork made it unlike any Corvette that had come before it. With only 19,581 actual miles, extensive documentation, both original roof panels, and its original wheels, this 1990 Corvette ZR-1 is an excellent example of one of the most collectible and historically significant C4 Corvettes. Whether added to a serious Corvette collection or enjoyed on the road, this ZR-1 offers an extraordinary combination of rarity, technology, performance, and American automotive history.
