A “cymbal” of appreciation
"Rocketman" Hudson awards a drum cymbal to his old friend,
"Duck" Duckworth, at a fundraising benefit held at the Dockside
Bar & Grill on June 29. Duckworth, the original drummer in the Florida
Straits Band, was one of three people to receive a cymbal, after the
entertainer, who lost his home in a June 4 fire, found them while sifting
through the ashes. He also presented a cymbal to Dockside owner Lance
Becker, who plans to display it at the restaurant. Hudson said that the
cymbals were the only items to survive the blaze.

Back
by popular demand -- the Sunday Jam Session, the longest-running Florida Keys entertainment event of all
time, is back on a weekly schedule, starting in October. That means that the Florida Straits Band will be back every week, with a group
of musicians and singers, local and visiting, to bring you the best in rock
